frankship's conversations
Yes, that's the tell above Kibbutz lahav, but locals seem to refer to it as Tell Halif. I've been working on excavations there (and will again) and it generally has been referred to as Tell Halif. Joe Seger (the overall director of excavations) once identified it with Ziklag, but this identification has since been revised. Oded Borowski, the director of the current phase, has argued for the tell to be identified with Rimmon.
You must have been up there on a good day - what a clear view in comparison to the normal haze.

Changed position to more exact spot. When I first put it there it was very approximate. Good for picking that up.

Didn't move the photo location as suggested. The suggestion seemed to be for Mt Winterslow itself. I've marked the approximate spot from which I took the photo. Correct me if my geography was slightly incorrect.

I placed it there because (as far as I can remember) I took it within the first half hour or so of the tramp. It was the first view we had of Mt Earnslaw and that would be about from this point. It certainly wouldn't be as high up the valley as you placed yours (though there may have been a view up there, too). I certainly took it before we passed the waterfall of nearly 200m height at the opposite side of the valley and that's about half-way up the bush-clad part of the Earnslaw Burn
