tagabohol's conversations

The view of the backhouse is owned by our parents Mr. & Mrs. Titing Gallego at the front corner of the street Matias Gallego St.

I guarantee no Cropping/alteration of pics and with credits to your name. thank you so much sir/ma'am. Tomitaro

During a solitary walk around the lake, I settle down to rest.

Towards the left side of this photos, there used to be a big breadfruit tree. And beyond that, there were mangroves that my cousin, now a mariner, used to climb on hot summer afternoons. We were experts in climbing those trees over brackish water. Sometimes, we would "borrow" a boat and navigate through a maze of nipa palms until we reach the river at the back of the municipal building. Those were the days in the 70s.

This is the view of the back of St Vicent Ferrer Catholic Church of Calape. To the left side of this building is the rectory where in in 30s my mother fell and broke her leg. His father carried her and healed her broken leg. A hundred meters behind where I shot this photos used to be their house. It is no longer there now.

Looking out from the gate of my maternal aunt's house, one could see the acacia tree hovering about the street. To the right of that tree is the St Vincent Ferrer Catholic Church. The yellow mini cab rests at a corner where a convenience store used to be. It was a favorite hangout of the teenagers, but became deserted in the 80s when people reported seeing a ghost.

This is taken from the north side of the St Vincent Ferrer Catholic Church in Calape, Bohol. As a child in the 70s, we used to spend Holy Week and Fiesta with my maternal grandfather. During the town Fiesta, this place would be teeming with activity. The old ladies would be dancing to the saints all day to the tune of drums and gongs. But on other days, it's quiet and lonely.

This photo is taken in Oct 2006 from the front door of St Vincent Ferrer Catholic Church, in the sleepy town of Calape, in the Island of Bohol. This is the home town of my mother, the first woman civil engineer of Bohol. The spiral structure in front of the small plaza holds so many memories for me. It was where I and my cousin used to play when we were small, in the mid 70s.

These photos of IHMS barely capture the true spirit of the place as experienced by those who lived inside its four walls. Perhaps this will help: http://ihms-scriptum.blogspot.com
