Yes, Probe, you are right! :) And sure it is excellent for cycling, as long as it doesn't rain as much as it did, when I passed - but anyway I loved it! Best regards, May

Arthington Viaduct, built 1846, carries the Harrogate-Leeds railway line from North Yorkshire across the River Wharfe into West Yorkshire. The viaduct, for the Leeds and Thirsk Railway, was engineered by Thomas Granger and built by James Bray. It was 1510 feet long, had 21 arches and required over 50,000 tons of stone to construct.

Red brick italianate campanile situated at Tower Works in Globe Road. This one is actually a ventilation shaft, used to extract minute metal particles produced by the grinding wheels used in the manufacture of needles, pins and steel items for the textile industry. Colonel Harding, owner of Tower Works, commissioned William Bakewell to design the tower which dates from 1899. It is based on the 1334 campanile at the Duomo in Florence by Giotto. The factory was the largest of its kind in its heyday and covers a site of five acres.

Enjoyed your pictures of the Jagst & Kocher area.
