Known locally as "The Grotto". Set in "Grotto Spinney".
It is a permanent spring. Although it is higher than much of the surrounding area, it seems never to run dry.
I was once told that it used to supply water for the village of Boughton, which is a short distance down the hill from this spring. I don't know if this is true.
What has Franscica Barracks been turned into? I read recently on 'ARRSE' (British Army website) that the old barracks had been totally demolished now (as of December 2010).
Do I have any happy memories of 28 Sig Regiment here between late 1964 to January 1968 - Hmmm? Well, some and then again not really. The place was a sh*tehole, except when I made 'reality go away' with evenings on the 'wee' in the NAAFI Junior Ranks Bar. All Part of history now, as I look back on my so-called 'Illustrious Military Career'. I managed to get to the dizzy height of Lance Corporal whilst at 28 Sigs. But hey, 'Thats Life'. Here I am now in retirement in sunny Essex, England a 'Grump Old Geezer'.
Ah, well... time for bed, Matron is coming round with the Meds again. She said I can go down the Pub at lunch with my invisible friends and reminisce about all those 'Snell-Zug' crash outs we had to do back in the 1960s. Ah, farewell old barracks..... ahah!!!

A todos aquellos que emprendieron ese viaje el 13 de octubre de 1972, a los que estan en el Cielo como a los que estan aun aqui en la tierra, que Dios les Bendiga, desde Guatemala mi respeto y toda mi admiracion.
Creio que esta foto foi tirada em janeiro ou fevereiro, porque quando os sobreviventes do avião foram salvos, em 23 de dezembro, o Vale estava cheio de neve ainda. 23 de dezembro já está em pleno verão! É normal estar cheio de neve ainda? No fundo do vale aparece um tapete de vegetação rasteira, parecendo musgo. Tem como sair do vale indo em direção da Argentina?
