The street car ride from Washington to the Park was the best ride of all. I think the conductor enjoyed it as much as we did as they would really put their foot to the floor to speed up and the clickety clack clickety clack from the metal wheels would get really loud...a sound you only hear on this beautiful country ride, never in the city.
Abandoned Trestle of the Cabin John Trolley over Foundry Branch: The Washington and Great Falls Electric Railway was approved on July 28, 1892 to build an electric streetcar line from the Aqueduct Bridge to Cabin John Creek. It completed its track in August 1895. Because the railroad never reached Great Falls, but instead terminated at Cabin John, it was often referred to as the "Cabin John Trolley".
As a native of Dundalk, Maryland, where the golden domes are built, in Baltimore County, we sometimes affectionately refer to the WWTP Domes as "Dolly Parton's Bra."
