Karlitos-Lomas's conversations

Thanks for visiting and Thanks for the note!....I don't doubt you, but am wondering how you know for sure?

Both Gorilla beringei beringei and Gorillla beringei grauri live in the Virunga National Park...it's hard for me to tell nostrils and body shape from this photo. Other distinguishing features? Perhaps to be safe I should just say "Eastern Gorilla seen in the Mountains" ;)

This was a depiction of struggles at the hands (whips?) of the Piedmontese. Sardinia was ruled in the 1780's by the House of Savoy from the Piedmont. This monument was dedicated to Giovanni Maria Angioy, born in Bono, and seen as a leader of the Sardinian revolution against feudalism.

The San Francisco Church was built in Golden, NM, during the 1830's. My grandmother was a schoolteacher (one room, all grades) at the mines in Golden during the early 1900's.

The only hospital for miles, the one in Bulape, Kasai Occidental did an amazing job despite their limited resources. December, 1979.

Secondary school students from the Institute de Bulongo at the end of the day, playing and singing Soukous, November, 1979.

The Sa Costa neighborhood in Bosa is one of the oldest and most colorful on the West coast. Very narrow streets woven up the hillside, with brightly painted houses. This picture was taken in the evening one November.

This archetypal shot of the Mittens was taken from "John Ford's Point" - a favorite vantage from which director John Ford framed his 1939 film Stagecoach, starring John Wayne.

Bosa is one of the most colorful, unspoiled towns in Italy. This view across the Temo river shows the older part of town, Sa Costa.

The Hoodoos in Bisti Badlands go on for miles. No marked trails, just walk up the wash and explore!

We spent a couple of hours at this spectacular 13th century Pisan Romanesque church one May afternoon. Not a soul in sight, not even on the roads. Complete peace and serenity at this church in the Sardinian interior.
