The island is in Matahiwi a small village up the Whanganui river, the subtribe who owns the surrounding land are the Whanganui iwi Nga Poutama of which i am from, the Kawana mill close by is a place of historical significance to the area.
Lovely shot - would benefit from the addition of a couple of 4-8-4's. You have taken this from the opposite side of SH4 from that indicated (mine is from the middle of the top tunnel) Kia Ora!
