Definitive overwhelming!!

North Head was first fortified in the late 1800's in response to the "Russian Scare" the fortifications were modified again in response to the 1st and 2nd world wars. The site was occupied on a diminished basis by the Royal New Zealand Navy and used by them as a school, mainly to teach the use of radar. The rusty pole was part of the security perimeter for the site and had barbed wire up to the 1960's. The system was not the great as most of the kids living in the area used to sneak under the fences to play in the tunnels.
