Johan Cloete's conversations

Hi, Johan & George. My father & I were searching for his mother (my grandmother) for several years. Just by luck we found her grave in Athlone Cemetery. Agnes Rita Fields plot number 475ANG3.To cut a long story short, she left my father and my grandfather in 1946 in Belfast, Northern Ireland and somehow ended up in Bulawayo. There are two things I would like to ask. Do you remember a Agnes Rita & Bob Fields in the North End area in 1952 to 1958, when she died. Or a May Smith who lived at number 8 Hofmeyer Square in 1958. My family received a letter from her back then informing the family of my grandmothers death. This is strange as the letter was dated 30th July 1958, but my grandmother died August 22nd 1958. I suspect this may have been my grandmother herself saying goodbye, knowing that she had not long to live. The 2nd thing is... is it possible to get a photo of my grandmothers headstone as both of you are my only hope. My father is not getting any younger and it would be amazing to close this chapter in his life. If only we could afford to come out for a visit we would, but this is not to be. Please, this is not a scam, any info that you could provide or/and picture is all I am asking. I will send you a picture circa mid 1950's that is off my grandmother supposedly around Hofmeyer Square. Kind Regards..Terry Morrow Jnr. telmorrow@aol.com

This is a photograph of Rue Montorgueil. The entrance from the northern end is through Rue des Petits Carreaux, which is only a short laneway crossing Rue Reaumur when alighting from the Metro at Sentier. Google mis-identifies this on their map as well, giving the entire length of the street market the name of the lane way at its northern approach.

Very very beautiful !!! greeting from Moscow Olga

hi johan,

I was lucky ... we did a recky for one of our projects and we were escorted around for half day (and it was a glorious day). It was not planned but luckily I had my digital on me ... we were all around it, in the two ahalls and up one of the chimney. truly amazing. we made hundreds of images. our contact came via the owner but unfortunately the site has been recently sold on and I cannot point you in any useful directions.

regards
