Harper Cemetery, located near the top of the hill overlooking the picturesque historical town of Harpers Ferry, West Virginia.
Robert Harper, for whom the town is named, set out these 4 acres for a graveyard for the small village he settled in the mid 1700's. Situated at the confluence of the Potomac and Shenandoah Rivers, the town was a volatile player in the War Between the States. John Brown's raid of 1859 happened here and the town changed hands between the North and South eight times during the war.
In the shadow of the Santa Fe Trail, the Neo-Gothic Mission Church of San Rafael was built in the small rural community of La Cueva, New Mexico in 1865. It was during the period of Jean Baptiste Lamy, the Frenchman assigned by the Vatican to be the first Archbishop of Santa Fe. The church is recognized for its French Cathedral windows, a unique detail in this small, intimate adobe chapel.
Abandoned as a parish church in 1952 for lack of clergy, the structure soon fell into severe disrepair, forcing area residents to attend services outside their own area. The church stood abandoned for forty years until 1990 when a group of 150 area household committed themselves to restore the building. Volunteers and artisans from La Cueva and neighboring towns, with the assistance of outside volunteers worked over a seven year period to restore the building. Local craftsmen who had the skills and equipment to restore the beautiful Gothic windows were identified in the nearby community of Mora.
The Mission Church of San Rafael is part of a larger 19th century historical complex known as the Historic District of La Cueva comprising an 8,000 sq ft hacienda, a water wheeled grist mill, corral and mercantile, and a currently operating raspberry farm and retail operation.
The Romanesque Pieve (parish church) of San Leolino is probably of 8 C origin and was completely rebuilt in the 12 C in Romanesque style. Inside there is a beautiful 14 C cloister, as well as a 13 C altarpiece (Meliore di Jacopo), a 15 C triptych by the "Maestro di Panzano" and two glazed tabernacles attributed to Giovanni della Robbia. There are no regular opening hours but try ringing at the Church.

The Knights’ Square (Italian: Piazza dei Cavalieri) is one of the most important landmarks in Pisa, Italy. This square was the political center in medieval Pisa -- the headquarters of the Order of the Knights of St. Stephen.
Now it's a center of education, being the main house of the Scuola Normale di Pisa, a higher learning institution part of the University.
