Altura is an ideal winter holiday place for older peolple - its never crowded or noisy. In the summer its very busy and very much a family resort. Many "day"trippers arrive in the summer. The beaches are fantastic, long, broad and have fine yellow sand. Ideal for the little ones to dig in. Its comparatively safe there too. The main road is far from the beach. And last but not least, the Portugese people are very freindly and most helpfull.
