Paul, I have been going through all my files on the Fontaine family. Is there a way I might contact you directly? Dianne Ressinger, who once edited the Fontaine newsletter mentioned in 2003 that you had traced the history of the Sevilly chateau , tracing it back to Gallo-Roman times. Sorry, don't have access to your email address, and this is 2016, so hope I can reach you....

Bonjour, Paul Mason! I am descended from Jean de la Fontaine as well. I'm originally from Virginia but am living in Pennsylvania now. I've been searching for Fontaine sites since 2008 and just discovered the Fontaine-Maury Society online where I found this photo and the link to Panoramio.
I have made friends in Royan who are part of the Protestant community there and plan to return to Royan next June - looks like I will have to make a trip to Sévilly, among other places! I was eager to find this, thanks so much for posting!
An entire family of Peter Fontaine descendants now lives in the UK - in Norwich, the Liverpool area, and Torquay. I was just visiting them this spring. Where are you located in the UK? Sooner or later I will be there, tracking the Fontaines, and would love to meet you.
All the best, Sara Fontaine Gilliam Hopkins
The first barracks were constructed between 1859 and 1862 and were named after England's patron saint, St. George. Other barracks were built later and named after Ireland and Scotland's patron saints
