In contradiction to what you think: Panoramio ask the photo's to be put on the position from which you take it. Otherwise what would you choose with a wide angle lense?
Looking East from the slopes of Isandlwana. Amatutshane (Conical HIll) on right horizon. Itusi to the left of it. The ridge over which the main Zulu column came from centre to left edge.
The view from the donga similar to what Durnford's column would have seen. They fell back from this position to the Nek just to the right of Mahlabamkhosi which can be seen peeping out from behind the tree.
