The little cog train known in Greece as the “Odontotos” (= tooth train) is well known to train lovers all over the world, because its journey along the fantastic narrow Vouraikos gorge is one of the most spectacular railway rides. The train when the incline gets really steep it switches from regular track to a cog system. The trip from Diakopto to Kalavrita takes about one hour going through tunnels and over bridges. Zachlorou is the train stop before Kalavrita where many people get off the train to hike downwards the gorge or to visit the famous Mega Spilaio Monastery.
