Ha! It's deep fried chicken wings! In the middle melon with Serrano ham, and in front of my mother, char grilled sardines. We shared. I'm drinking (and driving) a shandy amd my mother has the house white wine. This is a new place - it's their first season so the food is currently very good.

Good shot. That's the sort of lighting I like too for buildings - diffuse sunshine just enough to add form without making the shadows too harsh. Don't see that enough in Spain, where the light tends to be as hard as hell out of a big blue sky. Add buildings which are mostly whitewashed... Doh!

The Spanish ideal for civilised living is an apartment in a five floor block with underground parking, sun terrace off the living room, and within easy walking distance of bars, restaurants and shops. They don't much go in for American style suburbia - most of which is owned by North Europeans. e.g my parents. The high density urban lifestyle is a direct inheritance from the ancient Romans. I think suburbia is too quiet for the average Spaniard. They really do prefer high noise environments, and if it gets too quiet they let off fireworks or organise loud outdoor concerts which start at midnight...
