Most of my photographs are taken whilst out walking in the countryside. Living in Gloucestershire, the majority of walks are in that area, with the occasional trip to surrounding counties. Photos taken further afield are usually as a result of holidays, work related trips or visiting family or friends. I retain the Copyright to all of my photographs. I've just joined this site and these pics and comments are therefore out of date, however, I live in the Beacons and I am so pleased that others who are not fortunate enough to live here enjoy what I see every day.

Black Sabbath' town!!!

Hi, This brick built chimney is is known as Black Mill and is the chimney for an old dissused steam pump. The old derelict pump house is at the base of the chimney and there is a small victorian cast iron sluice gate and an iron pinion wheel with oak teeth still fairly intact. The pump would have been used for marsh drainage and probably replaced an earlier wind pump.

Lovely view, Mike. We used to love this walk when we lived in the UK. Long ago... we hear the paths are seriously worn by the hordes of hikers these days. Thanks for the memories!

I'll shut up now.
