Thanks for visiting, Barbara. These cliffs are on the Northeast Coast of England and not as white as those at Dover. I think the red colour comes from iron in the rock.
this was in my mums front garden known as Marske mill, her brother(my uncle)Alan Ward was known to throw a stone right over the the top as a party piece, some height, some story!.in the cold, cold, winters,my dad was courting my mum and some times could not get down the steep bank, because of the two inches of ice on the top, and mum could not get up the bank, all they did was wave to each other, how romantic, but i bet love found away.later in life as a child i spotted the icicles hanging from beneath the viaduct.they were 10,15,20,30,40feet long, what a beautiful sight.out came my top of range catapult, made by my self, and they would snap like carrots, and i was standing underneath them,(crazy or what)o happy days.ray thorpe.
can any one remember the Pierrot(French for pantomine character,a member of a troupe of seaside entertainers, usually in white costume, trmmed with black pompoms). It was a popular show,a full house every time.our local talent, was invited on stage, and boy were they good.ice cream during the interval and the Candy Floss machine outside (with all the wasps around it) yes they were long hot summers.i wonder what the GLOBLE WARMERS would have made of it.(any memories please.)Ray thorpe.
