Actually, I've seen enough water in Silver Lake that you could sail around to your hearts content provided you were in a shallow-draft sailboat. (water depth only about 2 to 3 feet at it's deepest).
Goodness, I shot an eight-point buck near here in 1957! My grandfather had just given me a 12 gauge and I used a rifled slug. Knocked him dowqn with one shot at about 30 yards. Grandpa said he could hear me yelling in Lebanon!
Back in the 1960's I used to hunt rattlesnakes here. At one time I knew these mountains and valleys like the back of my hand. Your photo brings back very pleasant memories.
