I have been to Manihi and I visited the local village shown above although I was staying at the Manihi Pearl Resort on the other side of the atoll. I have seen Moi-tu (spelling uncertain) who was orphaned at birth and grew up in the company of the local dogs. Moi-tu thinks that he is a dog and tries to bark at the appropriate moments. Pigs are banned from the local sidewalks and if Moi-tu were a pig, he'd be banned. But, since Moi-tu is a dog, it's OK with the local officials. They also keep a watchful eye on him to make sure he doesn't end up in someone's barbeque pit.
