This is the Centre Family House at Shakertown and would have had as many as 100 living in it during the mid 1800's. The hierarchy of the religious society would have lived in this beautiful stone building built in 1824 taking several years to complete. It contained retiring rooms [bedrooms], kitchens, a dining room, cellars and a large meeting room. The infirmary was also located within this buiding.
