John Naylor's conversations

John Naylor said:

Llangelynin Church is among the most remote churches in Wales and is also one of the oldest, dating from C12.

In C6, St. Celynin may have set up the first religious settlement here. The church is built close to an ancient hut circle. An Iron Age fort overlooks the site from the crags of Cerrig-y-ddinas. The area is criss-crossed by roads dating from pre-Roman times.

This is one of many bridges built by the Shropshire Union Canal company to this elegant design. Now it only serves as a footpath.

The church was designed by Capability Brown as an part of his landscape. Robert Adam designed the interior.

Yes, the poor quality mapping of Nairobi is disappointing. (Panoramio thinks many villages in the US are more important?) If you want to pursue the issue, why not join the "Suggestions" Forum?

Thanks. It was one of those clear evenings, just after a shower. While professing heritage policy, the council doesn't love its gate that much. Vehicles still pass and, as you see, decorations include nummerous traffic signs.

Actually, you don't see them all as I painted out an awful "Yield" sign sitting atop the "P" on the left. The red border ruined the picture.

GIMP is good software....
