I've always heard it tied to religious beliefs for a barn - "the devil hides in the corners" so they tried to eliminate the corners. On an 8 sided 1 room schoolhouse the reason was said to be able to see any/every direction at once for fear of an Indian attack.

Could be. I don't recall any sign attached to it - it is on display at the Cog Rail Depot. It definitely does not match the cog wheels. I guess this is where location titles can benefit from a photo description.

Schist is an awesome rock for waterfall formations...it's relatively soft, and as a result, is more easily sculpted by erosive forces than other rock forms. Pick any stream that intersects with a schist band and you'll find something interesting, whether it's Texas Falls, Moss Glen Falls, Warren Falls, Huntington Gorge, Honey Hollow, Hamilton Falls...there's dozens.

Thank you, Zaro. I am fortunate to live in a lovely place. As do you! You have many beautiful photos!! And very nice perspectives on some amazing architecture.

Wonderful! Good work!

I know what you mean. This is one of my favorite ones from my album with dead wood as a focus.

Thank you Geoff - and you are correct. Tho technically one could observe if there were any fires in the vicinity..... =) I suppose I should put the correct label on.

Thank you! Your pictures fill my heart with happiness. I grew up in MT and I do miss it.
