Directly down the path from Hussein Mosque, is one of the more famous restaurants in the Khan El Khalili, The Khan El Khalili Restaurant (note: The Metal Detector). Across from restaurant, is a notable Jeweler, Gouzlan's. A high traffic area, the Khan is definitely not for the Claustrophobic. With rich winding paths, and swarms of people.. it is surely both a shoppers wet dream, and.. a nightmare. Finding anything you desire in the area is fairly simple. Finding the Best of something in the area, may take all month. Do your shopping carefully, take a friend, some money (yes... this is important very few cash machines in the area) and a good attitude, many of the shop owners prefer to have tea and coffee with guests as a sign of hospitality. Often times, it will result in their mutual respect with you as a shopper or guest. and thus, lower your overall costs of your trip (and souvenirs) Egyptian Hospitality is unmatched in my travels thus far. I hope you enjoy the time you have in Egypt, Cairo, or the surrounding areas.. they are Unique at the very least.
