I take that back....I don't know what I was thinking just then.
A stunning view over Cebu City and the harbor to Mactan Island & Bohol on horizon.
Wow! This is wonderful!! ♥♥♥ + VOTED ❀. Friendly greetings from Switzerland ~☺ Arno
Thank you. This view is from isolated mountain top in Cradle Mountain-Lake St CLair National Park. You cannot drive to there as its only accessible by hiking trail from Pine Valley Hut about 3 hours walking north from Lake St Clair to Pine Valley area. Here is link to map of the area from Tasmania Parks & Wildlife Service website => http://www.parks.tas.gov.au/?base=8106. The Acropolis & Pine Valley are at top left corner of map.
Nice shot in similar location to an old B&W photo I remember from early edition of Tasmanian Tramp magazine. This tarn is about 500 metres north of Lake Macfarlane a small lake below eastern face of Ossa. Always wanted to go to this location.
Interesting view through Big Gun Pass to bluff on southern ridge of Mt Ossa. Have a few shots of this myself. Looks like low cloud had drifted in around the mountain tops ?
Hi Michael - it was the beginning of October with an unseasonally heavy snow storm hitting the region. Bloody cold too!
The steep bluff on right of picture dominating this view is the end of Mt Ossa's southern ridge and reaches a height of about 1,443 metres according to the spot height measurement on the Achilles 1:25,000 topographic map sheet. The mountain in background is 1,480 metres high Mount Hyperion in the Du Cane Range.
I wonder what it would have been like to be sitting here where you took this photo during the recent passing of Typhoon Pablo on 4th December. I was travelling in the area just ten days before (23 November 2012) on bus passing through Monkayo and Compostela Valley from Davao City to Butuan City. Who would imagine those peaceful scenes would be wrecked so soon after. I like your view thorugh to Mt Apo which I saw clearly from Davao most days I was there. I measured it on Google Earth and its straight line distance of about 115 kilometres between Mounts Apo & Tagub.
I think you have your photo MISPLACED on the Panoramio-Google map. You have it located near towns of Tagub and Mawab next to Compostela Valley in Davao Region of Mindanao - the main island of southern Philippines. I noticed this as I was there for 8 weeks just recently a week before the powerful Typhoon Pablo ripped through this locality. I was placing some of my own photos of this area after a trip to Davao City (120kms away SW) and noticed yours saying "HEAD HUNTERS LONG HOUSE, Borneo? Well the location "Borneo" you have chosen is just on 1,000 kilometres away (NE) from the nearest point in BORNEO.
