The AQHA rancher statue is a life-sized statue of one of Texas' most famous ranchers. I can't remember his name, but I believe his wife commissioned the statue and gave it to the AQHA in rememberance of her late husband. It's a sweet gesture to memorialize a great cattleman and horse breeder. The AQHA has the whole history behind the statue at their museum on the premises of the HQ.
Thanks, I was practically standing in the middle of the river to take it. The river level was low, so I could get out oto some rocks to get an "in the river view" of the falls. Thanks for posting!
You are correct, I couldn't remember the hwy number when I placed it on the map, but it is a contiguous highway from Hwy 3 in OR up through WA and becomes HWY 129. But we approached it from the hwy 3 side, and at the time I took the picture I didn't know if we were still in OR or had crossed over into WA. There's no highway signange on this highway that I can remember that tells when you are on over the WA line. So, in my mind at the time, it was still hwy 3. Thanks! :)
Some digital photos taken with Sony DSC-H1 digital SLR camera, except for photo scans and panos. Photo scans of film-based photos taken with Nikon F1 or F2 with Tamron 2.8-5.6 lens. Photos after May 2010 use Promaster wide angle adaptor (.7X) for Sony DSC-H1 and with (or without) Hoya Moose Warm (81A) circular polarizer. Some newer photos, incl. panos are taken with a Fujifilm AX300, you can tell by the bluer hues and lack of filtering, I tried to compensate in post-processing, but the camera is still very blue-ish and lacks depth.
