1980年代，這曲尺燕子湖還沒有重修壩體，沒有這個一分為二的攔水堤壩，要下去攔水壩很方便，景觀也美多了，改建后的堤壩對釣魚的人比較不方便。毛鉤拋竿，沉底釣，浮標釣都是一個絕佳的釣場，唯一要小心的是夏天毒蛇常在夜里爬到溪邊石頭上乘涼，夜釣要小心。20年沒再履燕子湖，令人懷念。

You caught the late major's 'fluorescent egg' in the center of your picture. Meant to play on Keelung's former Mandarin name translated from Taiwanese as 'chicken cage'. A rooster was put on top of the white and blue beams, as well as dangerously blinding floodlights at eye level around it for illumination at night. Luckily and for road safety reasons all this has been removed to Lover's Lake where it blends in with other gaudy structures such as a fantasy windmill.
