Lago di Lei: Barrage within Swiss, lake within Italian boundaries. Barrage is accessible through a tunnel from Switzerland. No other roads are in the area. The other side of the lake has some housings on Italian soil but are accessible only through Switzerland. The positioning of the barrage made a land exchange necessary; about 1 km further North Switzerland ceded a similar surface area to Italy.

The ugly ww1 Morgarten monument seems to indicate the battle location near the lake. But it is not located where the battle actually took place. That is about 1600m further South.

Once lonely on a rugged slope, the new EU sponsored freeway now passes near the old Larios sugar mill dating from times when large estates dominated and sugar was scarce. The Duque de Larios family is still one of the big landowners in the Nerja area. View from Balcon de Europa, Nerja.

You are right, this is the true Gazimestan Monument, and not the 1389 battle memorial tower visible in the background, as some claim.

This beach is not as crowded as Bocagrande, and there are many simple eating places. But be sure your stomach is sturdy, and bargain all prices beforehand!
