This is a refugee boat, not stranded in the forest, but set their for memory to the Vietnames boat people in the Indonesia Batam Vietnames Refugee Camp. They came also to Indonesia during and after the Vietnam war with such boats. No one knows how many boats never reached land again...

A Buddha shrine, build for the Vietnam Refugees in Indonesia, Batam, Galang Refugee Camp. This show the friendly humanity act of the biggest muslime country agains other humans, even with different religion. There should be more of such examples in world.

During Songkran is a Sandfigure contest at the beach of Bang Saen with a big festival around. At the beach, a lot of people build sandfigures, chedi, tempel or any other figures from sand. It becomes more and more nicer with ilumination and many other things. Not all is really from sand. They use also styroform and glue sand on for the special figures. Anyway the result is a very nice thing. For me, as a german sand-castle expert ;-) , have to take respekt for this art.

Songkran is the Buddhist New Year in Thailand. At this time (around 13.04 to 15.04 and later) you have in every town a very special version of the interpretation for "help to clean the old people". They make a motorcade through the town and on every pickup are a lot of (mostly younger) people. They have water guns and a big barrel with ice-cold water. Every body get the water from the cars, but also back from the people beside the roads. Here you see a tank-truck who give his water to the people down. On the road below is rush-hour and escape is not possible for them...

This photo I shot during a concert from Carabao, a famous Thai Band, which come on European tour. Around the concert was a big Thai-Festival and it seems that even Buddha want to come here ...
