This road is out of place it should be 4 roads to the left. It is Pepper Street not King Street. the houses at the top sloping up are on Old Exeter Road.
Sortridge is an old Elizabetan Manor that was once owned by one of Drakes mates.
The pool is twice as deep as the height I am taking the photo from. The tin hut I am told is a grade II listed building as it was the chapel for the village of Merrivale that was once here. The houses ran behind the hut right to left, there are only two remaining at the entrance to the Quarry.
