Cool, my brother Mike Capek worked there from about 1976-82. Unfortunately he passed in july 2000. He loved the place and wasn't the same since coming back to the prairies. He always talked about going back. What a shame everything was demolished. He did leave us photo albums of all the pix he took there, i will upload a few for posterity. I was reminded of the place when I saw an episode of "Canada Over The Edge" recently that did some nice aerial video of the Sunshine Coast & Haida Gwaii (QCI) Regards, Rob Capek

Built in 1882-83 as the Bathgate block by architects Barber & Barber. Later became Kelly Roberts Building.

Thanks for your comments. I personally love all the old blocks in the West End, Wolseley & Downtown. It would be great to see this one renovated & turned into condos or something. These old buildings were built to last, but like anything else needed upkeep and maintenance, and this place just didn't get it. Luckily though, it and some of the West-End's other old blocks didn't burn, and we still have a lot of them left around today. I love checking them out on GE as well.
