edd5791: I just made the one hike into the Maynard back in 2008. It is a neat spot for sure. The old timers did a lot of work at this place, but there is no record of anyone having struck it rich there. I am glad that it was spared by the Lily Lake forest fire which burned to within a mile of it las summer.

There was a roadblock on the highway west of Arco on that day near where I took the photo. The road was impassible near Craters of the Moon due to drifted snow. I had left from Salmon that day, hoping to go to California through Nevada, but wound up backtracking to west of Mud Lake the next morning and taking I-15 down through Utah.
