These lakes are actually said to be comprised of fresh water, but I'd be inclined to wonder if not more likely to be "brackish", as subjected to
tidal influences of the Ochlockonee Bay and the
Gulf of Mexico.
But these do attract the local population of Black Bears, Deer -- and Alligators are common.
