Excellent Picture!!!!

Favorite and Like!!!!

I love it! And, the car, too. Saw this on Google Earth and had to come and comment. L&F.

Ah, those were the days, James. Glad you liked the picture. I didn't get to these caves until April '72. I spent most of my time further down the coastline at Rolando's abandoned villa.

I forgot to say to George that this is a very nice picture. Is that little island in the background Peaked Island?

Very good picture! LIKE!

Best regards Z.

Typically, the monasteries in Ethiopia prohibit women and perhaps female animals. (I visited some of the ones on the islands in Lake Tana where women were prohibited.) I think there are places for women (nunneries) in Ethiopia too, which probably prohibit men. But the interesting thing about Debre Damos is that the visitors (men) have to climb a 20 meter rope.

I was here at the 100th Anniversary back in 2003. They were trying to reenact the flight with a replica, but there just wasn't enough wind that morning. At the very minute, 100 years before, that the Wrights made their flight, I jogged at about 10ft/sec from the beginning of their path to the end, the same true ground speed the Wrights flew at. It's one of the greatest moments of my life, and I'm grateful no one else in attendance thought to do it. Heck, hardly anyone was even over by the historical path at that moment. The crowd was a couple hundred yards away staring at the rain-soaked replica 'Flyer' (which we all knew wasn't flying anywhere that morning).
