We enjoyed a nice break in that Boulder Mesa Restaurant just below that point.
Max, that is a nice row of that Sugarloaf mountain. My wife and I came along in May from Long Canyon and enjoyed that drive along that pertrified dunes.
John: Well, I went out there a month ago. There are lots of sliding fist-sized stones on the playa, with many parallel tracks. Fortunately or unfortunately it is very easy to drive almost any vehicle onto the dry lakebed. Most of the sliding stones are over on the NW side of the lake. The stone tracks are somewhat mixed up with tire tracks.

This was not necessarily a "peace camp" if you were among the Kansas settlers who had been murdered by Black Kettle's war parties. There are two sides to this story, like there usually are to most controversial ones.
