No, Custer no! He was victim of his own unbridled ambition.

Hau kola! (Hi friend! in Sioux language)
This man, son of a prominent St Louis physician, was in the Union Army, however. Responsible for the northern part of the lines at the Siege of Vicksburg near Grant's HQ, he later was appointed Commander of occupied Natchez following the dismissal of Gen. James M. Tuttle.
Some of the 30-06 rounds entered the car, passed through both bodies, and exited (or tried to exit) the other side.
Yes, interesting and deadly. The Texas lawmen in the ambush with the parish officers finally had firepower to match the Barrow gang's - BAR's. Some of the 30-06 rounds penetrated the car, passed through both bodies, and went out the other side. I think the windshield has been replaced for some reason. At the actual ambush site south of Gibsland, Louisiana there's a shot-up granite marker.
The shootout was dramatically depicted in the Faye Dunaway/Warren Beatty film with a similar but not identical house used. The real house (249 W34th) was and is right on the street. Clyde and the rest of the gang escaped down that hill, turned south and headed for the old Shoal Crk bridge where he nearly lost control on the sharp curve. He made it, though, and they continued on the run for another year.

Ole: This is a very good overview of the battlefield. Walking among the ghost teepees is a moving experience. Be sure to visit the other Nez Perce battle sites also.
this is real life of Nepal!!!
Chris, this is a great picture. It's better than my picture of the same scene. (Maybe better lighting from the sun later in the day.) But I had trouble seeing your little blue square. It's camouflaged right in that patch of blue-green serpentine the olive tree is growing in. Why don't you relocate it slightly north or even slightly south in the mountains' shadow and you'll get lots more views. Did you make it to the AYG monastery? -- Max
