Well, they do have a 'Blue Lake' in South Australia, near Mt Gambier & that one is called such due to the amount of stuff in the water that reflects light, & it changes colour according to the seasons. But the name remains. Mind you, it is not as blue as this is green! Lakes below glaciers often have a tinge of colour in them and that is due to the amount of stuff that has worn off rocks as the ice passes over the rock, grinding it down. Eventually that ends up in the rivers etc. Cheers from NZ!

This is the Cairnmuir Landslide Infiltration Protection Works. Work was performed to ensure the reservoir was not blocked by landslide. A series of vertical retaining walls creating impermeable benches eliminating surface water from reaching the base of the landslide. there are numerous drainage tunnels in the base of the landslide, also used to drain ground water from the slide base.

This house is 'Bank Field' and was home to my Great Aunt and Uncle Dennis and Lily Butterworth. It was built by Auntie Lily's Father, William Emsley. Friut & veg' merchant of Halifax.
