This lake is part of the Hay-Zama Lakes Wildland Park, between Chateh and Zama, Alberta. It was very hazy at the time this photo was taken, due to forest fires in British Columbia.
This is the site of the 30-Mile Well. This blown-out gas well burned and spewed salty water for 87 years!! If you look closely, you can see my tiny yellow kayak on the shore of the river.
The bear got part way into the water, saw me, turned around and went running for the hills! I just saw his furry behind heading into the trees! (This photo was taken with a zoom lens.)
