An amazing place. My brother-in-law was married here to his beutiful bride in 1990. Forestholmes caretaker at the time was the brides father. It is a museum of 19th. early 20th century animal fishing and hunting artifacts. From original tree branch doorknobs to a freezer full of large trout that supplied the wedding dinner. An amazing place to spend a long weekend. There was too much to see and we could not take it all in. A must see in the Rangeley Region.
Just FYI: this is the view looking west-northwesterly and down onto Mooselookmeguntic Lake from the "height of the land" overlook on Maine Route 17 in Rangeley Plantation.
This overlook is a beautiful spot and from here one can scan about 270 degrees of lakes and mountain.
