micklpickl's conversations

The town was named after John Robert McClanhan. He is buried in the cemetery with his wife and some of his children. He was my great-great grandfather. His daughter Alice (also buried there) was my fathers grandmother who lived with them. I wish I knew more, but time has erased many of those memories.

What a shot!

Best wishes from West Virginia,

Brian

Is this home for sale?

Great story, Kirk. I'm happy that the photo was here for you to see.

The bridge was passable when I was there (November 2007). FM680 goes North to the bridge from the Texas side. It's a blacktop road until the last 4 or 5 miles, and then it's a very rough ("washboarded") caliche road.
