I've been a keen photographer since I was aged 16, and could afford to buy my first serious camera...a Ziess Werra 35mm..if anyone can remember them. Since then I have had a Zenit, Soligor, Ricoh, Canon, and a Minolta, (all 35mm types). In 1997 I went into digital photography with a Sony disc camera, followed by a small 4 meg Canon, and finally my present camera which is a Nikon 40D which I am delighted with. For a few years in the the 80's I went to night school studying photography and also belonged to a camera club in Poynton, Cheshire, where I had the chance to compare my work with much better and more experienced photographers. I would have loved a career doing photography as I have done many weddings for friends and relatives and love capturing nature, scenery, portraits, and indeed all aspects of the art.

A dramatic effect using 'in camera' features.

You are right Simon. I had not placed the photo anywhere near the correct spot. I dragged it without realising it and accepted it without checking. Thanks for the correction.

Thank you again for your comment.

Thank you for your kind comments Enson. It is always a special feeling when other people enjoy my images.

This photo is actually the shot from the tee box for the 1st hole of the Guadiana course, not the one next to it.

This photo is NOT of the 1st tee of the course, but is actually the yellow tee for the 3rd hole on the Guadiana course. I play it nearly every day, and also did a 'strokesaver' project for the whole complex. I also live there! The roped off area is the tee box for the 9th hole of the Grouse course.

Certainly does! Especially during this present warm spell here in England. Many thanks for your comments.

Where are all the apartment blocks, villas, queues of golfers, and crowds?

Thankfully not here at Castro Marim....it's peaceful, quiet, real Portugal.......oh, and the golf courses are fantastic as well.

The snow is limited to the Troodos mountains that reach a height of 2000 metres (6000 ft). It can be very cold up there whilst people are sunbathing on the beach at sea level. The snow line starts very suddenly as you are rising and can be dangerous. A few days before we drove up the road had been totally blocked, so some care is needed. There is even skiing and a ski club at the top!
