Professor retired of Physical Chemistry (UAM). I love to visit small villages and to converse with the locals. My preferred tip: “Don't walk in front of me, I may not follow; Don't walk behind me, I may not lead; Just walk beside me and be my friend (part of the lyrics of a Jewish children’s song and misattributed to Albert Camus).”

F+L. Saludos.

For me, Carlos, it is perfect walking country.

Perfect distance from Madrid, Perfect length of walks to do in a day, 5c cooler than Madrid in Summer, Less cloud than the main Guadarrama ridge (normally!), good and enjoyable means to lose weight and to try and keep fit, interesting granitic structures, great views over the Lozoya Valley and The Mesita to the south (with Madrid pleasingly visible but equally pleasingly distant), fresh air, terrific fauna and flora, ... I could go on but it is time for bed!

Best wishes Andy

I can tell you, Carlos that at the time you took this shot I was looking across to the peak from a little way to the west, having an early lunch (chicken, manchego cheese, tomatoes and an apple, from memory) and I saw at first no-one - then one figure leaning on the concrete post, then maybe 2 or 3 joined the figure, Then I returned the way I came as I wanted to re-visit my vulture friends before catching my bus. So maybe I have seen you!!!

(As it happened, I had to catch an earlier bus because I had to return earlier than planned so vulture shots will have to wait till autumn!).

Best wishes, Andy

Gracias Jordi.

My pleasure Carlos. You know I am very fond of what is in reality a tiny area but with so much variety to offer!

Best wishes, Andy

Ahh! Of course! Thank you!

The only other path I know is the one along the ridge from the west. Is there another from the town? I tried to look for one once but couldn't find it .... unless, as I suspect, you have to walk all the way round the back to the east and north, although this seems to be a painfully long way round, even if using gentler slopes.

I need to explore this eastern end in more detail but that is not so easy when Valdemanco's bus stop is one's sole entry point!

Best wishes, Andy

I was joking Carlos!!!

The first time I went up here, I had to find my own route as there was no one else there and it was a little bit of a challenge.

On more recent trips, I seem to have had to follow 50 schoolchildren, 3 separate scout groups, the various hiking clubs of Madrid, many rock climbers and grandmothers with zimmer frames on their annual outing, etc, etc!!

Best wishes, Andy

Thank you very much Andy and Mayaamon for your compliments. Best wishes, Carlos.

Very many thanks, Carlos!!! I fully intend to go exploring using your guidance! I am very pleased that you checked!! I feel very humble!!!!

:o) Best wishes and have a good weekend, Andy
