Gareth Evans's conversations

Many moons ago I was brought up in Cwmparc and I used to go to Solva just down the road from Brawdy on holidays. Seeing your pics Gareth gave me hiraeth as I now live in Spain and haven't been back to Wales since all my family passed away. Didn't realise that I was so homesick - daft at my age but there you go.

if you go to Ty rhiw colliery, you can still find pieces of the old colliery which collapsed in the early 40`s buryin the workers inside, my history tells me, the front was sealed up out of respect for the miners still trapped inside, the hillside still holds divets (we Ty rhiwians call bomb holes)where the mine shafts have collapsed, the main tunnel into the colliery still remains with the hooks on the wall to mount the lanterns are still there when i looked 4 years ago
