According to this article, there are differences. We call them aspen west of the Mississippi- http://www.gardenguides.com/108324-difference-between-birch-tree-aspen-tree.html

This photo appears to be above the San Juan Mountains of Colorado over the Animas River Drainage.

Do they actually let you climb this mounument?

No wonder we can't see very many stars in town! Great shot.

UPDATE: A Navajo friend and I made an assault up the mountian this year with no manavalent encounters with others. Took most of the day on foot armed with .40 cals, had great views, saw evidence of the forest fire, Lake Powell on top and recorded bigfoot rock clacking with digital recorder in the fir forest. We would've avoided any hostility at all costs if meeting up with those concerned, but no one will ever threaten me or my friends with a weapon anywhere in the United States without due injury upon the perpetrator. Those who survived my lead-copper reply can attest to a hail of welcome given.

Dragoonrider is very quick to give advice, but not posting any of his own pictures. Yes, it is Shiprock, taken (with a good zoom) from the location described. I live around Mesa View and see Shiprock from this distance every day.

Ik hou van het prachtige berglandschap. ^ ^ 人

Prachtige plek, mooie foto!
