The cups in this design align north-south and east-west. The northern line points directly towards Simon's Seat on the northern skyline. The eastern axis points directly at Almscliffe Crag, above which the equinox rises from here. This is probably the most famous carved rock on the moor, the Swastika Stone is generally considered to be later than the other carvings here and to date from the Iron Age.
how can you spell the name this way when it is SO clear on the shot (the big words on the front/top of the hotel)
incidentally, the name is really the KEPPEL hotel, at Creg ny Baa (pronounced BAY)
nice shot though, no need for a bike really Simon.
Wonderful!
I really admire you guys, all the way in the middle of nowhere and you take a shot like this.
Must be about central in Africa.
I presume the mountains (Chiriet) really appear blue, at certain times of the day. Perhaps like Uluru.

Nice shot of CARRICK bay from Gansey.
This reminds me of the times I used to sit in peace and quiet and listen to the Curlews calling.
Those were the days, for me.

alfaguzzi from philmerc your shot is still in the wrong place. it should be about 8 miles east. not much perhaps, but it is a small island.
