A freelance photographer since 1966, I have been around cameras for a long time. I have a passion for photography and have worked for a couple newspapers and sent photos to the AP and now defunct UPI. Although I work for the county to pay the bills, I have a small established photography business. I do weddings, sports, landscapes, and regularly teach basic photography and DSLR camera classes at the local high school for the community ed. Teaching keeps you sharp and makes you learn and keeps you on the edge. With the new waves of camera technology coming with each new year, it quickly trickles down to the point and shoots. I have a small story, "The House by the side of the road" that my Great Aunt, Selma Folstad wrote about Melvin. It was about a big red house with green trim that belonged to the Northern Pacific Railroad. My Great Grandfather, Christ Folstad was a foreman for the NPR for 42 years after migrating from Norway in the late 1800's. The family lived in this house and they had up to 30 railroad workers staying with them. Selma said that at there were also 12 families in the village with a store and post office.
