Yes they did rebuild it. 36 Amtraks a day used that bridge, so it created a real snarl, to say nothing of the 90 mile freight detour via Marysville.
It was rebuilt in 12 days. That's long by railroad standards, but it was a big project - they replaced wood with concrete.
This was right in the state government's front yard, so they naturally asked "why does it take CalTrans 3 months to fix anything on the freeways?" Two weeks later a gas tanker knocked down part of the Macarthur Maze and Caltrans got put to the test.
