Location on map is actually location of Cave Hill. Stoneface is further south, nearer to Sommerset.

Site lights illuminate the dam on the bypass, a waterway designed to regulate water levels on the cross florida barge canal. The ambitious project would have created a shortcut for commercial and recreational boat traffic across the middle of Florida. The project was cancelled in the early 1970's due to environmental concerns.

Dawn at the Lake Rousseau dam. Somebody left the lights on for this April 2006 photo. You can see the planets Mercury and Venus in the pale morning sky.

A small dam on a man made canal controls the flow of water from the Tsala Apopka wetlands in west-central Florida to the Withlacoochee river. This photo was taken in July 2006 before the onset of drought conditions which left this site and many others in the southeast United States parched and dry.
