I'm not positive, but my guess is that back in the day the train went through the center of town and they wanted to be in the center also. Although this picture is pretty far from any town. These people have probably lived here for decades and don't mind the trains.

The picture was taken at the southern end of CR 898. The entire length of CR 898 is visible. That car is at the northern end of CR 898.
