zzyzxpat, Thank you for posting! You filled in a lot of information about the cabin that I had been wondering about for the past 25 years or so.

Perhaps you are familiar with the tales of the screaming banshee?

No, it's not the old shooting range in Bullhead ........

Recently I heard a story about this area. This area was called the Mojave Ghost Faces. The area is considered sacred ground for the Mojave. Spirit Mountain is taught that the location is where the Heavens and the Earth came together. The entire area is filled with Petroglyphs that give warning and direction to travelers. I uploaded a diagram that I got from the Mohave Museum near Davis Camp to help others decypher Petroglyphs .

Looks like about a '53 Plymouth.

"Mechanics Special"...Needs work.

Norrel, Thanks. Seems I had been going to mostly the same places and not really doing much in terms of landscape type photography. This recent set was from me looking at a nearby property for sale. I believe this photo is of a dry waterfall that only works during the rain storms. I imagine a significant amount of water comes over the top. I really liked this mountain's natural caves too. When it gets cooler, I plan to get in closer. There are a lot of petroglyphs in the area from the local tribes since this canyon is pretty much the gateway over the Black Mountains. It is also the canyon that the Spanish missionaries were attacked and killed by the local indians. I haven't confirmed this story, for all I know it is propaganda from "Indian fighters."

jYeah, I work on radios for the State of CA in Sacramento. I'll check out the pics of the cabin. I saw some of your other pics and they are really good. I had to go to Blythe in the first part of this week, and on the way back to Sac I tried to drive up to the place on Christmas Tree Pass. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get a jeep for this trip and had to settle for a Prius, one of the first generation small ones, and I wasn't able to get up the road very far. The washboards were shaking the car up big time, and the dirt was getting pretty soft about halfway up, so I had to abandon the idea.

I know what you mean about the freedom you find in the high desert. Since so many things are left there after the owners are gone, you are reminded of it everywhere.

I need to start putting more of my pics up. I think I'll start with Mrs. Orcutt's house. She's the lady with the 4 mile long driveway near Barstow that car magazines used to test cars at high speeds on.

Now I remember why your name sounded familiar! I passed that road on I-15 on Wednesday.

Probably got converted into 50 dollars worth of meth.

Things like that are one of my concerns for night time hikes.
