I have been told by the elderly local people here in Littleborough that this spur was used for loading wool as there was a wool mill on the land just hehind it. The post there had a crane on to load the wool bails.
Family buried here. It's lovely, inside small church and outside. From the 12th century but actually listed in the doomsday book in 1087.Rector is Fr. Paul - Wonderful! Please attend a service if you can. I love Letchworth - especially this ancient church!
